=๐ก The Sheet Tip (Text Formatting Made Easy)
Have you ever encountered messy data with extra spaces or improperly capitalised names? Well, fret no more! We have a solution for you. This week, we'll explore how to use the TRIM and PROPER functions in Excel to clean up and format your text effortlessly.
Step-by-Step Guide:
Open your Excel worksheet and locate the cell containing the messy text, such as " JUstINe FAVor ".
To remove excess spaces, use the TRIM function. In a new cell, enter the following formula: =TRIM(A2) (Assuming the name is in cell A2)
Press Enter to see the trimmed text. The formula will remove leading, trailing, and excessive spaces, resulting in "JUstINe FAVor".
Next, let's use the PROPER function to convert the text to โproper caseโ. In another cell, enter the formula: =PROPER(B2) (Assuming the trimmed name is in cell B2)
Press Enter to apply the formula and witness the transformation. The PROPER function will capitalise the first letter of each word, giving us the desired result: "Justine Favor".
By utilising the TRIM and PROPER functions, you can quickly fix and format messy text in Excel, ensuring consistent and professional data presentation.
